The emphasis of all courses is for students to be able to broaden their creative skills through learning and developing their approach and exploring the variety of techniques and materials the Atelier has on offer.
Whatever your area of interest might be - landscape, townscape, still life, figure or abstract - Atelier Montmiral focuses on the individual and offers a personalized program for all levels of ability in drawing, painting and/or printmaking.
Atelier Montmiral offers a simple program that may include points of focus such as:
Beginners & Intermediate
Learning to record from direct observation using a variety of drawing media such as pencil, ink and charcoal.
Learning to use color by exploring color relationships in painting through watercolor, acrylic and/or oil. Understanding basic color mixing and creative use of color.
Simple printmaking through introduction to drypoint, lino, monoprint and screenprint.
Intermediate
Exploring media as a means to greater visual expression. Looking at the dynamics of images through markmaking.
Combined image making - Exploring a multi-media approach through paint, collage and printmaking.
Use of color and light through landscape - Examining the effects of harmonious and discordant color.
Advanced More advanced students or practicing artists often prefer to focus on their own areas of interest, using Atelier’s facilities together with technical/critical advice as and when they require it. A more specialized art program may be tailored so as to investigate a particular aspect of their work or development.
