Overview
This year, WoodenBoat School celebrates 29 years of offering courses designed around the arts of boatbuilding, woodworking, seamanship, and related crafts, and the upcoming season is taking shape to be another exciting one. WoodenBoat School has been extremely fortunate over the years to have so many of you join their classes, and in spite of uncertain economic times, participation in WoodenBoat School’s array of courses continues to grow.
WoodenBoat School students learn by doing, each at their own pace, in a truly inspiring environment. Most classes are small, enabling instructors ample time to work with each individual. The friendly, first-class staff and faculty are eager to share their vast knowledge and experience in well-equipped shops and waterfront. It is a unique and wonderful opportunity for folks of all ages.
Each year over 700 students, instructors, and guests from the world over make their way to this small coastal Maine town to learn new skills and new ways of doing things. The students taking part in the program are as diverse as the course offerings themselves. Many are alumni who return to the campus to pursue a lifetime interest in boatbuilding, woodworking, or boating while others are, perhaps, discovering the craft of wooden boats for the first time. WoodenBoat School surrounds students with outstanding teachers, fine craftsmanship, beautiful boats on the waterfront, good food and comfortable accommodations, and the unspoiled beauty of Down East Maine. At week’s end new friends have become old friends and folks depart with an inspiration and renewal that can only be found in a special place like this.
So, take your time browsing and see what suits you. Hopefully, the picture painted of WoodenBoat School gives you a good idea of all that goes on here. There’s something for everyone who shares an interest in boats, boating, and more!
